Journal Entry: Sun May 18, 2008, 10:21 PM

The rules of Vortale:

1. Don't RP with me, UNLESS I know who you are personally. Your characters aren't getting involved with mine. My characters all have deep stories and I didn't design them for your own personal amusement. If I draw them in fetish art, it's for my own amusement.
2. Do not, and I repeat, do NOT draw my characters in ANY fetish art/porn without my permission first. You can draw surprise art/gift art, if there is no fetish whatsoever involved.
3. Don't request porn, even if I ask people to give me requests. You may request other things and I'll think about it, but porn isn't something I plan on doing. Fetish art, depending on what it is, doesn't count as porn in my book.

Requests (and others) - CLOSED

What's your opinion on the country and town you currently live in?

For example, me, Scotland fails epically.
So does the town of Irvine.

Allow me to explain why, in a nutshell, since most of you have heard this already:

Our education is horrible. You are thrown into a den of lions with a book, and you're supposed to have learnt everything in the book while under attack.
Or you are thrown into the deepend of the pool during your first ever swimming lessons, with a lead pencilcase.
Or the people in control of the education decide to make cuts here and there, and add unnecessary hard parts simply to make the course seem harder.

The society sucks. There is a 1/6 chance that by leaving your own front garden, you will be attacked, most likely verbally, but in some cases physically (statistics based off of my own personal time here).
Also, Football (Soccer) seems to be the biggest thing since electricity. If someone's team loses, you will bet there will be some form of war between fans of both teams. That's because most people who like Football (especially Rangers fans) tend to have a low mentality, and love an excuse to riot or fight.
([link] even when they're not in Scotland, they fail, no matter where they go.)

Our laws suck. Prisoners get human rights, as well as a comfy bed, satellite TV and some amount of cash a month. This is why we have so much crime, most people who go into prison end up having a better life than what they had previously.
Also our self-defense and human rights laws are so sketchy and can be taken wrongly. You could be simply defending yourself from a nutcase, and accidently end up with 18 months in prison.

However, there are positives.

Scenery is very nice, especially up north. There's definately a lot of good things to see. Zoo's are also a good thing to visit.

Now for my town.
All the negitive things mentioned above can be 10 folded.
There is also nothing to do for 30 miles, and train tickets cost a bombload. It has to be the most boring town ever.
Sure, we have a beach, covered in needles, broken glass and dead bodies.
Sure, we have a swimming pool, that goes knee deep at best and is almost going bust.
Sure, we ha-...well that's it really.
Unless you're the kind of person who wants to risk having a drink at a local pub and running into a high chance of getting into a fight with some thick headed brusier (60% of Scotland), there is nothing to do.

My advice, stay up north, avoid down south.

Now then, I'm asking you for your opinion on where you live simply because I spend a lot of time complaining about mine. If you don't want to reveal where you live that's fine with me, you don't have to.

I quite like my country. It's fairly decent in terms of low crime, equality and all that other fancy sounding stuff. A few complaints though about this place is that our current government is being run by this real creepy guy who thinks he's top stuff but really doesn't have a clue about how to run an economy, how to help environmental issues, and all that jazz. Also occasionally we get nut cases in politics who seem to believe that Australia has too many imigrants and that everyone who isn't white should just bugger off.

The town I'm currently living in isn't too bad. Clear skies, 20-25 every day (degrees celcius). Fairly decent public transport and alright beaches. Although there's too much sun and walking though I think, and not an awful lot to do unless you go out clubbing every night. Oh, and the people up here are miiiiighty sleazy >.<

Lesse... although I wouldn't call this place the best on earth, I'd say it definitely favors better than Scotland. Lots of diversity here, we got people from all corners of the globe living/visiting here because they say it's "pretty." I don't really think so, then again I've lived here all my life so it's not surprising I'd get bored with it.
We're mostly made up of whites and Mexicans, and of course plenty of Native Americans living on the reserves. We get a few African Americans and Asians, but for the most part we're white and brown. I myself am a Heinz 57/multiethnic, which isn't too terribly uncommon here.
But at least this state has a lot to offer in terms of scenery. There are lots of wide, open spaces. In fact, I can look out to the mountains and always know where east is. We have your stereotypical dry, arid regions with random Mexican trinket stands by the highway, or a few of those "country folk" (for lack of a better term) selling delicious sweet jams and other such home-grown recipes. We also have beautiful mountain scenery with little forests, skiing during the winter, and lots of rocks with funny little ancient drawings on 'em. A little piece of history, just right outside your doorstep... or about a three hour drive.

Our education sucks pretty hard, though... then again, so do most schools in America. LOLOLOLOL. And our schools suck even more than MOST schools in America. That is pretty sad.

Another thing that sucks is that many Americans don't even know this state is even a STATE! They think we're part of Mexico. XD About a hundred years ago we were, but not anymore! Get with the program, people!

We're also the only state with two official languages: English and Spanish, so it's not uncommon to find someone who's bilingual here, which I think is awesome!

Unfortunately, the same applies with American football than your football. During Super Bowl Season, forget it. Don't go outside your house. People treat it like a religion. It's scary... what's even sadder is this state doesn't even HAVE a freaking Super Bowl team! We end up rooting for the teams from OTHER states!

Crime does get a little scary here. The other night I swore I heard a woman scream. I went to my dad and told him, but he insisted it was just car tires screeching. I would have believed him if it didn't happen again, and it sounded too winded to be tires. It's only happened once, but it's definitely not comforting. But for the most part this neighborhood is fairly quiet... it's filled with old people, Mormons, and we have Muslims living across the street... we don't talk, but I'm sure they're nice.
And our police force sucks. They just don't enforce the laws, which is why people can go 90MPH in a 45PMH zone. And they're aways setting up these retarded sting operations and completely ignoring the REAL problems.
OH! Not to mention I found out last years that us taxpayers are PAYING cops on leave for domestic violence. There was this one cop who like... beat his wife or something, so they put him on leave from the force and they STILL PAID HIM! X( Jerks.
And we have plenty of drug crimes here, which is why it is SUCH a pain to buy Claritin and other allergy medications. I'm sure if you wandered around the desert you'd eventually hit a meth lab or something.

There are a LOT of homeless people, though. I've seen them mostly on the east side, though. Just a couple weeks ago, I was waiting at the bus stop when this weird guy walks across the street, nearly walks in front of a car, and starts pacing up and down the sidewalk and shaking his head while muttering something incomprehensible. Then he got on my bus... I don't exactly have a good history with the mentally insane. One tried to rape and kill me once, sooooo... yyyeeeeaaaaaaahhh. Thankfully he died before that happened, but MOVING ALONG--

... I actually don't know if we have the death penalty in this state, but I'm pretty sure they do in other states. But I doubt we treat our prisoners as well as your country does.

As for our society... it really varies, I haven't really noticed a trend in terms of areas. I live on the west side, though, which has WAAAAAAAY too many people. Our public schools are PACKED! I went to a high school that could only hold about 850-ish students, and had a population of about 2,500, and it only got worse every year! Schools on the east side aren't terribly better, but for some reason they do NOT like us westsiders (for lack of a better term) on their side of town. It took thirty years before they built another bridge across the river so we could travel to the east side. And we STILL get bad traffic, but it's still not as bad as the traffic in some of the bigger cities such as Los Angeles... "there's no population crisis," my butt!

That being said, I'd still rather live here than there. >>

Leschee here , i don't realy hate the place but am not too nuts about it either.

There is lots of diversety right outside my door, the local zoo is bout 3 streets aways along with the station, movie theather also very close.Café's and otehr shops also very closebye so i could like do a lot of stuff but i don't have the need for it ,especialy on sales.I kinda dislike a big group of people on one place. The vieuw is nice dough if the weather is nice and u just sit down have a drink look at all the girls passing bye etc etc.Park is also close.

Crimes , euh fairly mild , sure we got the ups and down with the multiculture people here with 5 diffrent passports but i try to mke the best of it.

I would give this place a 7 cous the politics suck atm

Ah yes, The United States of America. Land of the Free, Home of the Brave, and the Den of the Sue-Happy.

At a glance, it's not all that bad. Climate is decent, and as long as you have some common sense, you can make a decent living.

But where America really falters is in politics. The few months before the presidential election are a huge pain in the ass. Instead of commercials about how Candidate A will do everything he can to make America a better place, you get things that basically say "Candidate B sucks. He eats little children and wants to rape your family. ThisiscandidateAandIapprovethismessage."

Also, sports are a big thing here, too. American Football is the most important thing ever, especially during the Superbowl. People buy huge TVs and couches for it. Even grocery stores go all out with decorations and specials on Family Size potato chips. People look at me like I have a some small rodent crawling out my nose when I say I don't like football.

And you have to watch what you say. People get offended over everything. For instance, you can't refer to a dark-skinned person as "black." It has to be "African-American," regardless if said person is from Africa or not. And it's not "fat" or "obese," it's "on a diet."

Meanwhile, it's politically correct to refer to people like me as "skinny white people." I DEMAND TO BE CALLED A FIT POLISH-AMERICAN. :B

On the other hand, we're usually second or first for video game releases. :>

As for Erie, Pennsylvania, we're really not all that great. It's not a horrible place, but it's definitely not all that exciting.

Our weather is a pain in the ass. You can't make long-term plans for a cookout or something. It could be 70 F (21 C) and sunny one week, and then suddenly drop to 30 F (-1 C) and snow the next. Also, flying over Erie coming home from Florida, I realized how much gray and brown the place has. It looks really dull.

It also seems to be home to a ton of rich kids who act like they come "from the 'hood." I swear to god, half of them complained about having to walk to their bus stop. Most of them got rides from their parents, while I (who lived the furthest, mind you) walked all by myself. I'M A BIG BOY. The other half complained about how their iPod only holds 20 gigs instead of 60.

Lastly, there's just not a whole lot to do. We've got a little rinkydink mall and a movie theatre, but that's it.

Scotland fails! I so wouldn't get a job as a Scottish tour guide. :P

Anyway, your place sound quite nice, except for the negitives, obviously, especially the school packing issue.

I had a feeling american football was probably the same over there...I still don't get that, WHY did you american's ever call it football? Our football uses the foot FAR more often than you do. And what the heck does Soccer mean?
